I was born on Cadigal Land (Stanmore) within the Eora Nation of Greek migrant heritage. My philosophy and practice through the vehicle of sport is simple; it revolves around the ethic of facilitating ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’. As a tertiary & secondary school educator/trauma counsellor and accredited Coerver Coach of 22 years my cultural framework references interactions that recognise the art of leadership, mentoring and human relations, whether in management or through sport, are not just about the coaching manual but more importantly the intangibilities of human relationships, and as researcher Matthew Syed notes, "Great teachers inspire 'little miracles', helping people of any age to reach their potential not just as students or members of the market place (of their chosen sport or profession) but, far more importantly, as people". My ethos for youth development, via the pathway of the beautiful game of football, is always the ‘right to play’ acknowledges and fosters a deep spiritual recognition; that the ‘other’ brings us more than we contain.
